Browns DB Donte Whitner Tries to Punk Bills Rookie Sammy Watkins on Twitter

There was a little confusion on Twitter late Friday night (shocker, right?). It seems that something about Buffalo Bills rookie wide receiver Sammy Watkins made Cleveland Browns defensive back Donte Whitner really, really mad.

The only thing was no one seemed to know why.

@Sportsnaut
Here's what Whitner tweeted that got fans curious as to what was going on:

The first one got a lot folks wondering. The second made them mad since they had no idea why he was talking so much trash, and the third one--well, that just succeeded in making folks even angrier with him. None of it helped anyone figure out what the deal was.

As it turns out, it was all because Watkins had made some typical comments that every rookie does prior to his first NFL action (via NFLDraftDiamond):
 “I have a chip on my shoulder for every game, so it’s not just the Browns,” Watkins said. “I come out and dominate my opponent every game. I’m sure they’ve got great cornerbacks and great safeties, but my job is to do my job on the field no matter who’s in front of me, whether it’s [Browns cornerback] Joe Haden or [New England Patriots cornerback Darrelle] Revis or [Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard] Sherman, all the greats. My job is to win on the field and do my best.”
Generic as can be with a the name of a few stars thrown in; certainly nothing different than what every rookie says. He did have a little bit more to say about the Browns in reference to Buffalo's November 30 game against Cleveland since they were the ones that traded the No. 4 pick he was taken with to the Bills:
 “It’ll be a great matchup,” Watkins said. “We can go out there, battle, scrap, have a couple fights. It’s going to be great.”
Again--generic as heck and exactly what you want to here from young players. So--why did Whitner get so worked up?

Well--if you listen to what the majority said about him on Twitter it's because the only thing he does well is talk smack on Twitter. Since there was a lot of confusion as to why he was going off it appears even his Twitter game might be lacking.
