Matthew McConaughey: I Used to Wear a Headdress to Cowboys/Redskins Games to Mess With Dallas Fans

Matthew McConaughey may lose a few fans after this one (male fans at least). It appears that the Texas native and longtime supporter of the Texas Longhorns supports an NFL team that most Texans are not too fond of--the hated rival of the Dallas Cowboys, the Washington Redskins.

He's such a big fan that he used to dress up in a full headdress to Dallas home games!

Bad Matthew. Bad. How could you stray from America's Team? You grew up during the Landry Era so they were actually good back then!

Well--the story about how he became a Redskins fan is pretty funny. It involved a four year old Matthew's love of hamburgers and old western movies (via Washington Post)
“So I’m born in 1969,” he began. “1973, watching Westerns with my dad, Cowboys vs. Indians, and I’m rooting for the Indians. It starts with that. Later that year, I realized my favorite food is hamburgers. Well you’ve got a linebacker, No. 55, Chris HaNburger, with an N, who loved to wrap somebody up, maybe give ‘em an extra yard, then throw ‘em down and then walk around like I didn’t go down with you. So it started with that as a four-year old, where you’ve got your favorite food and you’re rooting for the Indians in a western.
He went on to talk about watching John Riggins, the Hogs, Joe Gibbs, and that was about it (he goes in detail in this video). Essentially what it comes down to is this good 'ole boy that grew up in Dallas cheered for the hated Redskins because of old westerns and hamburgers.

As disappointing as that is in one of Texas' favorite sons it could be worse--he could like the New York Giants as well (must have rooted for Jack over the giant in Jack and the Beanstalk).
