PHOTO: Boxer Chris Algieri's Eye Practically Swollen Shut in the 8th Round; Finishes 12th Round and Wins Title

If you saw a guy walking down the street with an eye as swollen as this you would think he didn't just get his behind handed to him he got it kicked, stomped on, run over, and fed to wild animals. You would think that he lost.

But that was not the case at all Saturday night when Chris Algieri took on the Siberian Rocky Ruslan Provodnikov for the WBO junior welterweight title.

Critics did not think Algieri would last long in this one and early on it looked like they were going to be right after he was knocked down twice early in the fight, but he was able to battle back. Even though his eye was just about shut from the 8th round on he was able to put up enough of a fight to convince two judges he deserved the win.

As for the eye--it doesn't look like it's bothering him at all!
