Notre Dame WR Will Mahone No Longer Enrolled in School

Considering how Notre Dame has handled past disciplinary issues (i.e. Everett Golson) this news should come as no real surprise. Junior wide receiver Will Mahone--yes, the same guy charged with assault of a police officer, intimidation of a public servant/party official, vandalism of a government entity, misdemeanor resisting arrest and disorderly conduct stemming from an incident last month
--is no longer enrolled at the university.

According to his lawyer, Mahone was told that since he is facing felony charges that he can not be enrolled at Notre Dame. Should they be reduced, discharged, or otherwise handled he will be free to reapply.

“He’s working hard. He’s doing a lot of things to straighten himself out. He’s working hard on himself right now,” his attorney said. “He’s trying to understand what happened here and why it happened and maybe address some of the issues. That’s what he’s trying to do.”

He had a pretrial meeting Monday night and will have a preliminary hearing on July 23.

It will be interesting to see how the charges play out, because--well, Mahone really out did himself in this incident. Here is a description of the incident from the South Bend Tribune:
Police say an officer advised Mahone to calm down and get on the ground, to which Mahone responded with, “(Expletive), white boy.” Police say an officer then took Mahone to the ground, but he repeatedly resisted arrest. Once Mahone finally was able to be handcuffed, police claim, he responded, “(Expletive), you white piece of (expletive). Takes these cuffs off and I’ll kill you. I’ll (expletive) kill you.”
It just got worse from there.

Hopefully he can do what it takes to get his life together and eventually get back to school. Even if he never plays much or any football again it doesn't hurt to have 'Notre Dame' on your resume when you apply for a job.
