Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch is All About That In-Action--But Christine Michael Isn't

Marshawn Lynch is known for being one of the hardest runners in the game today. He's quiet and doesn't say much off of the field, but who cares about that? He gets it done on the field and that is what matters. So now he is holding out of training camp in hopes of getting paid accordingly.

If only the Seahawks did not have Plan B in place already.

During the off-season word out of Seattle was that the team was looking to become more of a running back by committee in 2014. For Lynch this meant a couple of things--(1) by sharing carries he'd be able to preserve his health and possibly extend his career and (2) he would lose bargaining power with his next contract because part time players are not paid a well.

For the guy he's be sharing carries with--former Texas A&M running back Christine Michael--it meant the world; a chance to prove he can play.

After causing a bit of a stir by making people believe the team was unhappy with Lynch the team backed off of the comment and smoothed things over. No need to make your star unhappy if you can avoid it, right?

When the comment was made the team thought Michael had shown them enough to earn some time which he would have to take from Lynch. Being the competitor that he is it came as no surprise that Lynch was unhappy with the idea.

With Lynch out for training camp Michael will get all of the reps with the first team. The team will get the chance to see what Michael can do as the No. 1 running back.

If Michael ends up being as good as the Seahawks hope Lynch will lose any and all bargaining power after the '14 season when he becomes a restricted free agent.

So--basically Lynch is doing the team a huge favor by holding out.

  2. Lynch needs to prove he's a man and live up to his contract, prove this year that he's not a fluke, then after we win the superbowl again, he would have more bargining power for that fat contract.
Remember Alexander, he did great, had a record setting year and then flopped.
Hope Lynch comes to his senses and acts like a professional, after all he agreed to his current contract.
If he prefers to act like a big BABY, yes send him to Cleveland.

    1. he didn't do much in the Super Bowl anyway; give his reps to Michael. At least he'll appreciate them!

  3. Ok I've officially had enough of Lynch. God bless him, he's been a great RB for the Seahawks. However, his issues with not talking to the press because it's not his thing are BS an purely childish. It's in every NFL players contract that they're REQUIRED to be accesible to the press for a certain amount of time every week. No players has the right to say "no". Lynch needs to growup and give the press the minimal amount of time they're guaranteed and get over it. As for his wanting more money now... He was the 4th rated RB in the entire NFL last year. His contract is the 4th highest paid contract for a RB in the NFL. He's being paid what he's worth already, so he needs to get out there and do his job without complaint.

Lynch really needs to think this thru a bit... When Seattle drafted Turbin, they made it clear they were adding depth and a runner that could be the feature back in the future. The following draft they made it very clear that the team isn't interested in carrying Lynch's big contract AND he wasn't the future of Seattle's backfield. The results were the team drafting the top rated RB in the draft Christine Michael from Texas A&M. It was declared then and there that Michael was the future feature back for the Seahawks. The coaching staff made it clear when they drafted that he was basically gonna redshirt for a year, which is why he played so little last year. Now, the plan is to make he and Turbin the feature backs. Lynch should know this since he's a part of the team... Oh wait... I almost forgot... Lynch has been too busy hiding in California and instead of being a big boy and talking to the front office and coaches himself, he's had the now retired Michael Robinson do all of his talking. He's been a constant non-professional over the course of the last year and a half when he's not running the football. I strongly suggest he get his butt into camp, or face the consquences. Honestly, I think the team should put him on the trading block and see what they can get for him.

  4. This whole thing was planned to put the spotlight on Christine Michael and see what he can do as a #1 RB.
