Andre Williams Takes Early Lead For Steal of the Draft With Strong Performance in Hall of Fame Game [GIF]

Preseason does not matter. We all know that. Players and even entire teams have looked great in the preseason only to stink it up when it actually mattered. Does that mean we are not going to take what we see and analyze the heck out of it? Absolutely not! We're football fans. That's what we do.

My crystal ball is telling me this--New York Giants rookie running back Andre Williams is going to be the steal of the draft.

With David Wilson out the big man (5'11" and 230 pounds) took advantage of getting some carries with the first team rushing for 48 yards and a touchdown off of just seven carries. A good chunk off of it came courtesy of a 21-yard run so it will be interesting to see what he can do with more carries.

Since there is a good chance that David Wilson may be done for the season if not for good he will get those carries.

After gaining close to 2200 yards in his final season at Boston College it would not have been shocking to see running back Andre Williams go in the first couple rounds of the draft. Instead he fell to the fourth and saw nine other backs taken in front of him.

So going in to the preseason is there a chance that he might have a little chip on his shoulder? Absolutely. Is that good for the Giants?

You betcha.
