Carolina Pathers QB Cam Newton To Miss Time With Hairline Fracture in Ribs [TWEET]

There are certain things that fans of the Carolina Panthers do not want to hear. You know--things like Jerry Jones is the new owner,  no beer at home games, ticket prices are being doubled, and that their quarterback is injured and is going to miss some time.

But if they have to hear any the last one is the one they want to hear the least, but sadly that is indeed the case.

Right now the team is hopeful that he will just miss the final preseason game--the one he was going to miss anyway--and that will be it. Ribs are not easy to deal with though. In order to make sure a hairline fracture does not become something more serious it would not be shocking to see them hold him out of Week One.

It would be better to risk losing one game with a back-up QB rather than the last six or seven after the injury grows and becomes too much to play with.

So--anyone know how Derek Anderson has been doing lately? Or is Joe Webb the back-up?
