Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Macklin Nearly Biten By Turf Monster in Preseason Win Over Pittsburgh

The preseason is necessary. When it comes to getting ready for the season you can only do so much in practice playing against your own players. You need an opponent--a real opponent. Yes, the games are meaningless, but they do go a long way towards getting guys ready for the meaningful ones.

That is, if they don't get hurt like Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver nearly did Thursday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It looks like he tried to plant his foot so he could make a cut, but than the Turf Monster bit him and he ended up going down:

He was able to walk off the field under his own power and even returned to the game. No one would have faulted him for taking a seat especially after missing last season with an injury. Instead he showed fans something they love to see--a little grit and toughness (that resulted in six catches for 43 yards).

While it was nice to see him come back fans would have understood if he sat--after all it is only preseason.
