WATCH: Cleveland Browns DB Donte Whitner With the Big (but worthless) Hit on Theo Riddick

Donte Whitner is known for trying to lay the smack down on ball carriers that dare come his way, and early in Saturday's preseason contest he did just that when Theo Reddick thought it would be a good idea to cross the middle.

Nice hit? Yeah. Worthless hit? Yep.

The hit looks great on highlight reels and all, but when defensive backs like him go for the lick rather than the tackle too often the end result is a miss or the guy simply bounces off and continues downfield.

It's a good thing that Whitner had a little help here because while he stopped Reddick in his tracks he didn't knock him down.
