SMU and TCU Combine for the LOL Play of the Day [GIF]

Most of the time on game day the SMU offense is so bad its funny (sorry, guys but it's true), but in this case the Mustangs offense has nothing to do with it (their defense did). This time it was the TCU offense that was providing us with fodder for our funny bones.

They certainly did a great job of it with the 'crossbar pass.'

This is what happened:

• the defensive end at the top of the gif jumps offsides
• the center decided to scoot the ball back to the quarterback rather than snap it (dare to be different right?).
• as the ball nears the back of the end zone the quarterback thinks he better pick it up to save the safety. 
• As he tumbles out of bounds he thinks," Man--I better throw the ball out of bounds or something." 

If you look at what he's doing though you can see that he pretty much would have sent the ball down the middle of the field nice and high--easy to intercept. Instead he hits thr crossbar giving SMU a safety.

Or at least he would have had the defensive end not jumped offsides.
