Were the Atlanta Falcons Forced to Use a Tight End at Right Tackle? [PHOTO]

With just 53 players on NFL rosters (46 on game day) teams are forced to make some tough decisions when it comes to how many players they want to keep at each position. Some are more prone to injury than others, but its impossible to know. Coaches just have to make a decision and hope for the best. Make the wrong call and teams better hope someone on the roster can adapt.

As luck would have it the Atlanta Falcons ran out of healthy linemen against the Minnesota Vikings and were forced to play a tight end--No. 80 Levine Toilolo--at right tackle.

How did it happen you ask? The good folks at SBNation did the leg work and figured out how:
  • LG Justin Blalock left the game with a back injury; Gabe Carimi came in at RG and Jon Asamoah slid over to the left.
  • RT Lamar Holmes went down with a foot injury. Carimi moved over to cover the position, and and backup C Peter Konz went in at RG.
  • C Joe Hawley went down
They had no other linemen active for the game so they inserted Toilolo at RT.

Sometimes you have to do what you have to do.
