No Adrian Peterson...No Problem for the Minnesota Vikings? [GIFs]

The notion sounds insane. Many would call it crazy and even more would liikely call it stupid, but after the way the Minnesota Vikings offense played last week against the Atlanta Falcons you have to wonder about it just a little.

Could it be--no Adrian Peterson...no problem?

You can never replace a talent like Peterson, but since the Vikings have no choice but to deal without him they have to do their best. Using the Atlanta game in Week Four as an indicator that might not be as hard as one might think.

Between rookie Jerick McKinnon and Matt Asiata the Vikings had 213 yards on the ground and another 39 in the air. McKinnon was not able to break in to the end zone for his first score, but Asiata chimed in three touchdowns.

Throw in another 27 yards and a touchdown from Bridgewater before an injuryy forced him out and you are talking about 240 yards and four touchdowns coming on the ground (with Christian Ponder's yard the total was 241.

Any team in the league will take that kind of run production on anu given Sunday (and Monday and Thursday and late in the season an occasional Saturday).

That was only one game of course. The real trick is being able to do it again and again and again. With Ponder starting in place of Bridgewater against Green Bay it will be a little harder than it was last week. The Packers will be more than happy to load the box to stop the run and force Ponder to beat them.
