After the Syracuse game Notre Dame fans had to start wondering a little. Was there team as good as they thought? Was Everett Golson really the man or did a soft schedule make him look like a stud? Syracuse should not have been as challenging as they were, but when you make the mistakes Golson and company made bad teams can be competitive.
So with No. 14 Stanford coming to town with their No. 1 scoring defense how would things go?

It wasn't perfect of course, but Golson and the offense did enough to stay in the game, When it counted most they were able to come through with a 9-play, 65-yard drive win the last three minutes of the game capped off by a 23-yard TD pass on fourth and 11.
