The One Stat That Will Attract NFL Scouts to Oregon Ducks QB Marcus Mariota [GIF]

In the next draft the talk when it comes to quarterbacks will center around Florida State's Jameis Winston and Oregon's Marcus Mariota. In regards to Winston the talk will likely be whether a team is going to take the high-risk player high in the draft or wait till later. Mariota, on the other hand, could very well be the top pick in the draft thanks to the body of work he has show scouts over the last few years.

Of all the impressive stats that Mariota has accumulated over the years there is one that scouts are going to love.

It's not the touchdowns, rushing yards, or completion percentage. It's not the game-winning drives or the crazy number of touchdown drives under two minutes in length.

It's the interceptions.

Over the span of his career to date he has thrown only 11 with his first of the season coming Friday night against Cal--and that one was aided by a deflection!

Skeptics will pass the low number of interceptions to playing too many weak opponents. The rest will see Mariota as being an intelligent player that will rarely turn the ball over. With possession being the name of the game that stat alone is going to be talked about in a number of draft war rooms.
