Teams have played in a lot of snow in the past and in some pretty terrible conditions. So it is hard to imagine there being a threshold, but it looks like that threshold may be met in Buffalo.

The Buffalo Bills' stadium has already been blanketed with a few feet of snow. So much that the team has gone from calling for any and all able bodied people willing to shovel snow for $10/hr to come on out to the stadium. They eventually upped the offer to include free tickets to the game as well.
But all that effort appears to be for nothing since the area is expected to get hit with another foot or two of snow on Friday.
All sorts of alternate plans are being batted around right now from the game being moved to another city, possibly Toronto. Pittsburgh or even Detroit. They could play the game on Monday night or possibly even Tuesday.
With the Governor already talking about playing the game not being in the interest of public safety there is a pretty good chance kick-off will not be 1 PM ET at the frozen field in Ralph Wilson Stadium.
