Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton Injured in Car Accident [UPDATED]

Last season there were tons of stories on the internet about football players getting in car accidents and getting seriously hurt. Each would momentarily shock people before they would realize that each story was a cruel hoax. Why bring his up now? Well--it's because Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been in a car accident.

And no. It's not a hoax.

Details of the accident are not available just yet, but apparently Cam Newton was involved in an accident in downtown Charlotte around 12:30 PM that caused one car to overturn (see above). Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was injured in one of the cars and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance (see below).

This was the other car involved in the accident:

We don't know yet if they were being precautionary with taking Newton to the hospital or if he was seriously hurt. From the look of the two cars it may be an answer Panthers fans don't want to hear.

I'll update this post as I hear more.

[UPDATED]

Sounds like he is not too bad off:

Rumors are talking about broken legs, but since that is what the hoax stories always said I wouldn't put too much stock in those rumors just yet.

[UPDATED AGAIN]

Sounds like he's good.
