The way fines are doled out in today's NFL is ridiculous, but on some occasions it's actually good that the ability for the league office to hand them out exist. Not when it comes to handing guys $5000 fines for tossing a ball in to the stands (because fans are punks and may fight over it), but when it comes to guys doing dangerous things that the refs don't catch.
Like Cleveland Browns offensive lineman Joe Thomas did here:
Plays like this are exactly what fines should be doled out for. Thomas dove and someone's knees that was already locked up with another player--huge no-no. This kind of play is meant to injure and should be punished severely.
Hopefully it will be.
Hey FAT MAN, where were you when Gary Barnridge was speared in the ribs with a helmet breaking his ribs and there also were two late hits on the same play and no penalties were called and no fine for the spearing.
ReplyDeleteSo FU on your Joe Thomas comment. MORON
