Vernon Hargreaves Seals Birmingham Bowl Win For Florida With INT in the End Zone [VIDEO]

It goes without saying that the season for the Florida Gators was nothing that fans envisioned it would be, but with a new head coach ready to take charge there was still one piece of business left--the Birmingham Bowl against a good East Carolina team. However, going in there was one question that needed to be answered.

Would the Gators show up? Would they want to finish a lackluster season on a high note?

In the end the answer to that question was a yes. The offense was it's usual below average self, but it did get a nice performance from freshman running back Adam Lane who had 109 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries (had carried the ball just eight times for 72 yards).

Much like with the team's other wins it was the defense that carried the day. While it didn't really slow down ECU Shane Carden and the Pirates attack (536 yards) it kept them out of the end zone and made the plays that mattered most.
