The Carolina Panthers have reportedly let or will let running back DeAngelo Williams go. The franchise's rushing leader has been with the team for nine years, but was told that the team is simply not running the ball enough to justify keeping him and Jonathan Stewart on the roster. Unlike longtime Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith who was let go prior to last season, he appears to be taking it all in stride.
However, he has brought up one point about the organization; something that he was really unhappy about.

According to Williams, after his mother passed away in May after a very long battle with breast cancer no one from the team reached out to him, he never heard from the owner, and no one came to the funeral.
He has a very good point. It will be very interesting to see how Jerry Richardson responds to this. To ignore one of the best players the franchise has ever had at a time like that is deplorable. Richardson should have showed up at the funeral and sent a ridiculous amount of flowers.
That would have been the appropriate thing to do at a time like that.
