Jamaal Charles Cost Texas a Four-Star Running Back Commit

The Texas Longhorns have had some great running backs over the years. Among some of the more widely recognizable faces are guys like Early Campbell, Eric Metcalf, Ricky Williams, and more recently Jamaal Charles. In fact, it is because of Charles that one high school running back said he chose not to go to Texas.

His logic is hard to argue with especially when you consider where he is going.

Kameron Martin, a four-star running back in the 2016 class out of Port Arthur, Texas, is actually related to Charles and says it is because of his cousin that he did not want to go to Texas. He wants to start his own legacy.

Had he gone to Texas he probably would have heard his cousins name a lot and possibly have been compared to him as well. Sometimes because of familial lines fans have been known to have expectations.

He will not have those issues at Baylor, where he is committed.

On one hand, being included in a discussion that included greats likes Earl Campbell would have been cool. On the other, no one likes being held up to a standard or compared to another just because they are related.
