Kyle Busch ended up suffering a compound fracture in his right leg and a broken left foot.
Track officials are coming under fire because the wall was not covered with an energy-absorbing steel-and-foam energy reduction (SAFER) barrier.
"The Daytona International Speedway did not live up to its responsibility today," track president Joie Chitwood said. "We should have had SAFER barrier there. We're going to fix that. We're going to fix that right now."Busch is obviously not going to race in the Daytona 500 Sunday. Matt Crafton, a two-time Truck Series champ who has never raced at Daytona will take his place.
