When the Miami Dolphins signed wide receiver Brian Hartline to a fat 5-year, $30.775 million deal and guaranteed him $12.5 million they probably thought that the 1000+ yard season he turned in during the '12 season was going to be the norm and not the exception. To be fair, he did do it again in '13, but last season he was all but factored out of the offense catching just 39 passes for 474 yards.
So they let him go.

The move does not come as a surprise when you consider his price tag for next season, $5.9 million. There are too many better receivers that get paid much less than that. However, with the team supposedly trying to shop Mike Wallace it does come as a surprise.
With Jarvis Landry playing as well as he did last season the loss is much easier for the offense to handle, but it will be interesting to see what happens with Wallace. Maybe with the draft having a number of quality receivers in the draft the team has no tipped its hand for the draft.
