New Texas A&M Defensive Coordinato John Chavis Putting Suing LSU and Texas A&M

When Texas A&M managed to steal defensive coordinator John Chavis away from LSU two things were accomplished: (1) a tough conference foe was weakened and (2) they got the defensive coordinator the team needs to succeed. Chavis has helped the Tigers have one of the top teams in the country for the last few years. Aggie fans are hopeful he can do the same for them.

It appears the lessons have already begun. Chavis has put Texas A&M on the defensive. He is suing the school and his former employer, LSU.

Don't worry Aggies. This is not something that is going to affect the team going forward. it's just contract BS. Chavis was under contract at LSU through the end of this year. According to the buyout clause in his LSU contract if he left the school with anywhere from 11-23 months left on his contract he would owe the school $400,000.

If there was less than 11 months he owed nothing.

Apparently LSU is demanding money. Chavis is saying he turned in notice on January 5 making his last official day February 5 putting him safely in the less than 11 months zone.

Okay. So that explains why he is suing LSU, but why sue A&M? Easy--in case the judge sides with LSU he is saying Texas A&M should pay the buyout and not him.

So by suing both he is covering his bases and that he does not have to pay up $400K.
