Former SMU RB and ESPN Analyst Craig James Blames Gay Athletes in the Locker Room on Satan

Recently several sports teams including the San Francisco Giants and the New England Patriots filed an amicus brief with the Supreme Court in support of gay marriage. Many people are in favor of the teams doing so and support the idea of gay marriage themselves. However, at the same time there are some that are not happy with the sports teams getting involved and filing the brief.

One such person, former SMU and New England Patriots running back and ESPN college football analyst Craig James, decided to use his name and notoriety to speak out against his former team's support of gay marriage and even blamed Satan for it.

James is probably best known for using his position with ESPN to raise a ruckus after now-former Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach locked his son in a shed during practice. He ran for state senate in Texas, but did not win.

A conservative, he recently appeared on a radio show where he said that the Patriots acting in support of gay marriage was proof of Satan at work:

If you don't have time to listen here is a transcript of the important part courtesy of Outsports:
James: A locker room is a cohesive deal. A locker room is a place where everybody has different belief systems but you just get along. In my opinion, I look forward to seeing now, if management tells you and the coaching staff tells you that you better not say anything about the other side, you talk about implosion in the locker room. I know the believers I was with, my teammates—and there were a lot of believers in that locker room—we wouldn’t have been quiet for a moment, we would have spoken up.

Perkins: Do you think there are going to be more players that say, “Hey wait a minute, that’s fine if they want to do that and live that lifestyle, but for me, as a follower of Jesus Christ, I have an obligation to speak out, in a loving way, but to speak the truth nonetheless?”

James: I have to say that ... the thought of me filing something in the Supreme Court on behalf of players, I had pause. I’ll run through a wall with you guys [but] if I were a current player in that locker room and my livelihood depended on me being quiet or losing it because of my belief system, I worry, I wonder. So, that’s Satan working on us.
Satan? Really Craig? Come on man. If Satan was ever at work in the NFL I'd look more towards players getting arrested for beating their wives and girlfriends than gay marriage or someone acting in support of gay marriage.
