New Orleans Saints Getting Rid of Drew Brees Next?

After a 7-9 season last year the New Orleans Saints clearly needed to address a few holes on the roster. Rather than just address the holes though it appears that they are opting to blow the roster up and go for a total roster rebuild instead. Several players have left already including superstar tight end Jimmy Graham. If you were shocked at that the next move they are rumored to be making might shock you in to cardiac arrest.

Rumor has it they could be sending quarterback Drew Brees to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the No. 1 pick.

WTF right? Get rid of the face of the franchise? Are they on crack or something? Actually--it's not a bad idea. Brees is 36 years old. That is not just old for a quarterback that is archaic. His time is going to be coming to an end soon whether its after next season or after the next three seasons. He does not have much time left.

So while they could just use him while they have him it sounds as if they may try to use him to seriously jump start a rebuild instead.

Brees alone would not be enough. Yes, he could be great in Tamp Bay and would have a field day tossing the ball to the Dunkaneers (Mike Evans, Vincent Jackson, and Austin Seferian-Jenkins), but he is old and getting him for a couple years is not worth a possible franchise quarterback in Jameis Winston.

But Brees along with one or maybe both of New Orleans' first round picks? That could be worth it to a young team like Tampa Bay with other needs that could be filled in the draft.
