For at least one more season.

When Manning became a free agent his agent, Tom Condon, envisioned his client going for as much as $25 million which the Tennessee Titans offered. So when Peyton chose to go with Denver he asked his agent what Tom Brady was making and said he didn't want anymore than that ($18 million). When he got $19.4 million/season he was angry.
Manning, not wishing to become a burden and stay too long, asked that a clause be included that he pass a physical reach off-season as well. He didn't want to become that guy that drained the team's resources and became more of a hindrance than a help.
So the notion that he is not willing to renegotiate his contract to help the team is just wrong. He did it twice for the Colts and it should come as no surprise that he is doing it now. He wants to win. To do that he knows the team needs more than money--which he has plenty of and can spare.
