NFL May Have Finally Figured Out How to Get Players to Want to Make the Pro Bowl

The NFL's Pro Bowl gets no respect from fans and players alike and deservedly so. Players don't like the notion of getting injured in a meaningless game so they either try to get out of having to go or half-ass it if they do go (not all of them of course, but most of them) Fans don't care for it because the quality of the game is crap and many of the guys voted in don't even go.

It appears that the NFL may have come up with an idea that will encourage guys to not only want to go, but actually go if they are chosen.

The league may take the game to Brazil in 2017. For once, the league office has a really good idea here.

From a player's perspective they get the chance to take the game to another country and make new fans out of a population that is not nearly as exposed to the game as the current fans are. Not to mention it's a heck of a vacation destination.

For the league it takes care of two concerns with one move. For years there has been talk about trying to expand the game globally beyond the games currently being played in London. Problem is the players are not real crazy about the travel time and jet lag that is going to affect their play and recovery for the following week.

If there is no game the following week and the game does not count for anything anyway...

The move would also generate some excitement among players as well as fans. More guys probably would be interested in going to Brazil for a game at the end of the season. If interest in the Pro Bowl raises the game will likely become better and it will be easier to justify keeping it around.
