Out With the Old and Time For the New for Texas Basketball

Even though Rick Barnes has led the Longhorns to the Big Dance in all but one season since his arrival in Austin in 1998 he is expected to be fired by the University.

Barnes has been on the hot seat for the last couple of seasons, but after getting bounced from the NCAA Tournament in the Round of 64 it sounds like the University has decided it is time for a change. The decision has not been made official, but numerous news outlets have reported that Barnes is indeed done.

Once his firing does become official the school is expected to waste no time hiring his successor. While Texas basketball may not be on par with programs like Duke, Kentucky, Indiana, or North Carolina, but it does have the resources like one of the blue-blood programs. Since football comes first in Texas there isn’t as much pressure as with the top programs....
