For years one of the most exciting players in the NFL has been Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu. The veteran defender has a nose for the ball, can hit like a freight train, and has proven time and time again he will do whatever he can to make a play.
And the Steelers want him to retire?

There has been talk over the last couple seasons that it might be time for Troy and his hair to walk away from the game or at least the Steelers. His production has dipped and he is not the player that he once was. With an $8.25 million cap hit and his 34th birthday coming up should the team need a little extra cap space he could easily be a candidate to get cut.
However, the team does not want to cut one of its most popular players. Not only would that be a tough to do on a personel level, but there will be some lash back from the public. So--according to Ed Bouchette
from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette--the team is hoping he retires.
