Rugby League Star Jarryd Hayne Changes Mind and Signs With San Francisco 49ers Over Lions

Many, many months ago Rugby League star Jarryd Hayne announced that he was leaving his rugby team and heading to the United States to pursue a career in the NFL. In recent weeks the chatter about who he would sign with picked up quite a bit. Up until the moment he signed with the 49ers Monday word was that he was going to sign with the Detroit Lions.

It appears that he had a change of heart.

Why he changed his mind is something folks will argue till they are blue in the face, According to him it was because 49ers head coach Jim Tomsula works well with players in transition.

Most folks are going to believe it was a different factor though:

The 49ers gave him $100k guarantee; the Lions did not offer a guarantee. Probably more a factor than Tomsula

Whatever the reason--good for him. He is going to be listed as a running back, but is more likely to contribute on special teams.
