Vikings Shopping Cordarelle Patterson Because He Can't Learn the Offense

Cordarelle Patterson is one of those guys that has looked great at times. He has made some great catches and put some incredible moves on defensive backs and looked every bit the part of a future stud wide receiver. Yet after two seasons in Minnesota he has just 78 receptions for 853 yards and five touchdowns.

Pedestrian results at best, and by time last season ended he had been replaced in the starting line-up by a former practice squad player.

Charles Johnson, the practice squad player in question, missed the first four games of the season, but still almost had as many receptions as Patterson (31 to Patterson's 33), but still had more yards (475 to 384) and touchdowns (two to one).

Is Johnson that much better than Patterson? It wouldn't be the first time a quality player came out of a small school (Grand Valley State). There is another theory floating around the internet though.

Patterson can't learn the offense.

Well that's not good.

Rumor has it that the Texans are interested, but it is not clear what it will cost Houston if the Vikings are indeed willing to throw in the towel on Patterson. It will be a shame since the team gave up a second, third, fourth, and seventh round pick to get him.

But if he isn't helping you win games...
