WATCH: Taylor Barnette Hits the Deep Three to Give Belmont Upset Win Over Murray State

Belmont has not been to the NCAA tournament too many times. It's kind of hard for schools from smaller conferences since the only chance they really have of getting in is winning their conference championship; something that is easier said than done no matter how good the team is. So when they entered Saturday night's championship game against No. 25 Murray State the expectation was that Belmont would miss out once again.

But that's  not how things ended up!

The team had planned to go for two and the tie with its final shot, trusting that they could pull it out in overtime. However, after the officials stopped the game because of a clock issue they had to call time out and switch plays.

Taylor Barnette made switching the plays the right call by hitting an off-balance and rather deep three to give Belmont the upset win, the conference championship, and the school's seventh trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Congratulations Belmont!
