Ohio State RB Ezekiel Elliott Named Top Amateur Athlete of the Country

It has been a good year for Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott. He was a major factor in Ohio State winning the Big Ten and National Championship, and will probably be the early front runner for the Heisman when the season starts. Recently he and the rest of the Buckeyes got their national championship rings.

As it turns out, that is not the only hardware Elliott picked up this week.

The New York Athletic Club has named him the winner of the 2014 AAU James E. Sullivan Award, an award that goes to the top amateur athlete in the country. He beat out an impressive group of athletes from a variety of sports to win the award: Shawn Barber (pole vaulting), Simone Biles (gymnastics), Meryl Davis and Charlie White (ice dancing), Katie Ledecky (swimming) and Jahlil Okafor (basketball).

Congratulations Ezekiel!
