PAC-12 Study Says Athletes Are Too Tired to Study

Have you ever wondered why so many athletes seem to complain about the life they have as semi-celebrities for their school's sports teams? Does it seem strange that they complain to you? Do you wonder if there is any basis to their belly-aching other than the desire to get paid now rather than have to wait for the NFL, NBA, or MLB to call?

According to a study done by the PAC-12 it could be because they are too tired.

CBSSPorts got a copy of the report conducted by the PAC-12 Conference that talked to 409 athletes about the amount of time they commit to their sport. According to the report the athletes questioned dedicated 50 hours a week to their sport.

While they were generally satisfied with things they were often tired and stressed and the demands left them feeling anxious and cost them enough sleep to potentially hinder academic and athletic performance.

The findings coincide with what former Northwestern quarterback Kain Colter said last year when the Northwestern football team tried to unionize (Colter said they often spent 5-60 hours committed to football during training camp alone).

So there you have it. The free education so many people talk about athletes getting that they should be happy to have they are not getting since they are too tired thanks to the demands place on them by their sport.
