Texas Longhorns HC Charlie Strong Congratulates Wrong Malcom Brown on Being Drafted

Oh Charlie. It was bad enough that he did not know who his starting quarterback was when he was asked under oath, but his latest good has to make you wonder just a little bit if he knows who his players are. What did he do this time?

He congratulated the wrong player on being drafted in the first round Thursday night.

His superstar defensive lineman, Malcom Brown, was taken with the final pick of the first round of the draft by the New England Patriots. Like any good college head coach would do Strong tweeted a congratulatory message to what he thought was his former defensive lineman.

But it wasn't.

He ended up tweeting former Texas running back Malcolm Brown. So the goof wasn't as bad as not knowing who his quarterback is, but it's still pretty funny. Brown kind of figured some folks would goof up (just not the coach) and tweeted this out earlier in the day Thursday:

Even he couldn't believe the Strong got it wrong.

As expected, he heard all about getting "drafted:"

Strong realized his error, deleted the tweet (but nothing is ever truly gone online), and got it right the second time around:

  1. Longhorns are stuck with this guy at least 2 more years. Hope it's 3-4!

  2. Washington was a majestic 6'2" tall. Adjusting for inflation, that's like nine feet today. Nine feet of stoic elegance demanding respect. Adams was about 5'7" and portly, with a round Charlie Brown oath head.
