Texas Rangers Have No Interest in Taking Russell Wilson Away From the Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has been quite vocal in recent days about his desire to play baseball. He has even talked freely about having discussion with the Texas Rangers, the team that owns his baseball rights, about doing just that. Many have pondered whether Wilson is using baseball as leverage in his contract talks with the Seahawks.

According to the Rangers the Seahawks have nothing to worry about.

They like having him come around during spring training and wouldn't mind giving him a shot to play, but the Rangers have no interest in trying to pull him away from football:
“Russell has the competitiveness and work ethic to where he’d have a shot if he committed to baseball,” Rangers GM Jon Daniels said Saturday. “Obviously, he’s got a pretty good thing going on with the Seahawks, and we’re not going to get in the way of that. Playing quarterback is more intensive than the positions of other guys who have attempted to play both sports.”

It's not like the Rangers would pay him anything close to what he is getting now anyway. When he was in the minors he was not exactly a shooting star. So after being away for a few years he would likely be a little rusty making his journey to the Show (and real money) a lot harder.
