Gerrit Cole can throw some serious heat. So when he turns and tries to pick off a base runner at first it stands to reason that he is going to throw as fast as he can. Apparently his pick-off throw to Pedro Alvarez was a little too hard Wednesday night. The ball tore right threw Alvarez's glove meaning the base runner was not only safe, but he had an easy run to second.
For not making the catch Pedro was credited with an error. Time to get a better glove Pedro (or at least a new one).
