Michigan Self-Reports Four Minor Violations in First Four Months Under Jim Harbaugh

It was bound to happen. With the rules and regulations the NCAA has on recruiting Jim Harbaugh and his new staff were bound to make a few mistakes. You could argue that he should be familiar with recruiting rules having been a college coach in the not too distant past at Stanford. Then again, he was busy turning the 49ers into perennial Super Bowl contenders.

Annyway...he and his staff did commit four minor violations and each one is pretty much what you would expect--ridiculous.

First there was the recruitment of graduate transfer Wayne Lyons. Someone talked about it before he actually signed with the team. His mother tweeted about it. Apparently that's a no-no.

On March 18 Harbaugh sent a friend an autographed helmet and jersey to benefit an auction to benefit suicide awareness and prevention. As it turns out, the funds raised were used for a scholarship. Coaches can't donate items for a high school scholarship fund.

On March 14, a prospect was allowed to sit in the premium seats of Yost Ice Arena for a hockey game. Turns out that was a no-no.

The fourth involved some electronic materials that were sent a recruit.

Since they were all considered minor and unintentional Harbaugh and staff had to be educated on compliance with the rules and that was it. If you want to read more about the violations including the bylaws that were violated check out this article at MLive.com.
