NFL Rejects Contract Dallas Cowboys Gave La'el Collins

Jerry Jones is looking like a really smart guy right about now, but the NFL might be trying to rain on his parade. Jones rolled out the red carpet for former LSU offensive lineman La'el Collins and it worked. Collins signed with the team and now running backs everywhere are wishing they could sign with the Cowboys so they could run behind that massive line.

However, before the latest member of the "best offensive line in NFL history" can get to work the Cowboys are going to have to rework his contract.

The 'Boys caused a bit of a stir when they signed the undrafted free agent to a three-year, $1.636 million contract that was also fully guaranteed. It's about as much as the guy picked seventh in the second round is going to get not to mention completely unprecedented since it is fully guaranteed.

For some reason the NFL doesn't like it and wants the Cowboys to redo it:

Collins would have been a first round pick, but after getting tied to a murder days before the draft no one wanted anything to do with him. When he was cleared by the police he immediately became the most sought after free agent on the market. He had several meetings set up after the Dallas Cowboys, but the red carpet Jones rolled out was enough to get him to sign.

It will be interesting to see if the new contract changes anything.

[UPDATE]

Sounds like a new deal is done and it was nothing major.
