Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch Led the League in Broken Tackles-- Again

Marshawn Lynch is a pretty fast dude, but he is not a speed demon. That's not how he makes his money. No--Marshawn is known more for being the kind of guy that powers through defenders that are foolish enough to try and tackle him--hence, the name Beast Mode.

As it turns out there is a good reason why the name belongs to him and not anyone else. People refer to other running backs as going beast mode on defenders, but on one does it as often or better than him.

For the second year in row Lynch led the league in broken tackles. Out of 280 runs he had to break 88 tackles. This was a significant increase over what he did last season (59) and many more than second place (Le'Veon Bell, 59). He had to break tackles on 27.8 percent of his runs.

Last season the competition was a lot closer. LeSean McCoy came in second with 51 broken tackles.

It is possible to have multiple broken tackles on one play which was often the case whenever Lynch touched the ball. If you want to see how the numbers are tabulated there is a great write up at FootballOutsiders.com.
