WATCH: Houston Astros Prospect Derek Fisher Rakes in 12 Runs to Break California League Record

When the Houston Astros were bought by Jim Crane a few years ago a plan was set in motion to cut costs, get the books right, and build from within. It's taken some time to see some positive results, but it appears like the fortunes of the franchise may be taking a turn for the better. The big league team has been on top of its division for much of the season, and there is some young talent in the farm system with promise.

After breaking a 61-year old California League record the other night all eyes are certainly going to be on young Derek Fisher.

During his debut game with the Lancaster JetHawks Fisher went 4-6 with three home runs including two grand slams for a grand total of 12 RBIs (the new record).

As impressive as his performance is it is important to note that he was only playing at an Advanced-Single A level. He's got a long way to go to work his way up to the Show.
