MLB decided a season or two ago that they did not like guys trying to run over catchers at the plate. Yeah, the play does kind of scream injury for the catchers, but what is a base runner supposed to do when he fails to beat the ball home? Turn around and run back to third only to be nabbed in a run down? No! He has to run over the catcher.
