Plane Eagles Fans Hired To Fly Banner Over Cowboys Scrimmage Crashes; Fans Raising Money For Family Of Pilot [UPDATE]

The NFL's Banner Wars took a turn for the worst Sunday. Some Cowboys fans, with the help of Greg Hardy, hired a plane to carry a banner over the Philadelphia Eagles practice that read "WE STILL DEM BOYZ! SACKSCOMIN."

Fans of the Eagles had plans to do something similar for the Cowboys scrimmage. They hired a plane to carry a "WE GOT DEMARCO :)" banner over the Dallas scrimmage, but their plans did not work out as well.

When the plane went to pick up the banner at the airport it ended up crashing. The pilot was killed and a person on the ground that tried to help him was injured. The cause of the crash is not known at this time.

In response to the tragedy, the fan that started the GoFundMe page to pay for the banner announced that the money raised would go to the family of the pilot.

Since then, fans of the Cowboys have started to donate money along with Eagles fans. As of 9:50 PM ET Sunday night the total is up to $3270.

[UPDATED]

New outlets are now reporting that the crash victim was not the guy hired to fly the Eagles banner over the Cowboys scrimmage:
