The job of an outfielder is to keep balls from hitting the ground or from going over the outfield wall when possible. What they are not supposed to do is help the opposition hit the ball over the wall. that is exactly what Toronto outfielder Ben Revere accidentally did Friday night against Baltimore.
He dove to catch the ball, but the ball ended up bouncing off of his glove and going over the wall for a home run.
Hopefully Weiters at least offered to buy him a beer after the game.
