Mother Of Florida Head Coach Jim McElwain Not Happy With Son Over Sideline Tirade [VIDEO]

Florida players are accustomed to having a head coach that was prone to sideline tirades, but the days of public humiliation might be over now that Will Muschamp is on the Auburn sideline. Running back Kelvin Taylor learned Saturday during that the tirades are not done; just that the person giving them has changed.

After incurring a 15-yard penalty for making a throat slash gesture following a touchdown Taylor was ripped a new one by his head coach, Jim McElwain.

As bad as Taylor had to feel at that moment it likely paled in comparison to the feeling McElwain had after he talked to his 94-year old mother over the weekend. So was not happy with him for doing what he did, and she let him know how she felt.

“I'm not proud of it and neither is my mother,” McElwain said. “I got an earful from her and rightfully so.”

McElwain has since expressed regret over the way he handled the situation, and knows he could have done it in a much better manner. However, as inappropriate as it was, the players got the picture:

“I think Mac gave a good point with Kelvin,” guard TripThurman said. “Although it may not have been the right way to go about it, he definitely got his point across to us and how he wants to run the team and how we need to present ourselves to the fan base and the rest of the country.”

Penalties have been an issue for the Gators. They committed 12 on Saturday for 105 yards.
