Ray Lewis Would Never Abandon His Team Like Kam Chancellor Has

Ray Lewis is never one to mince words so when talking about the continued holdout of Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor he was pretty clear and to the point about what he thought--in a nutshell he said eh wouldn't do it. He wouldn't sit out over money and abandon the guys that need him on the field (Kam was definitely needed on the field against the Rams).

You know--like Chancellor has done for one week and likely will for another in Week Two.

The topic came up during an appearance on the Stephen A. Smith Show:
"I love Kam Chancellor," Lewis said during an appearance on the The Stephen A. Smith show. "Do I think he should be paid? Absolutely. I'm always for the players when it comes to that. But I am also for the players when it comes to the other side, too. I will never leave my brothers in battle. Never. Not over money."
Chancellor signed a 4-year, $28 million extension prior to the 2013 season. Since then many of his teammates along with other safeties around the league have signed new deals and are making much more than him.

As arguably the best at what he does he wants to be paid accordingly, and doesn't feel like he needs to honor his contract and wait until it is time for him to renegotiate.

Word is what he is wanting the team to do is shift money from the final year of his deal to this season (because he'll likely get an another extension before next season). According to reports the two have gotten within $1 million, but can't find a number they can both live with.

Chancellor has referred to the whole mess as "petty." Funny thing is if the team is being petty he is too. He could just as easily take what the team has offered to do and start playing, but  by sticking to his guns over what he has said is less than $1 million he is being just as petty.
