Detroit has been in need of a running game to match the capabilities of its passing game with Matthew Stafford. The Lions drafted former Nebraska running back Ameer Abdullah in hopes that he could provide that aspect of the game. After the career he had with the Cornhuskers there was no reason to think would do anything else.
On his first carry during the regular season he gave the Lions just what they wanted--a 24-yard touchdown run!
