WATCH: Green Bay Packers Safety Ha Ha Clinton Dix Will be Fined For This Hit On Doug Baldwin

Football players want to hit. That is one of the main things they play for; the chance to inflict harm on other person and be applauded for it rather than arrested. So when the opportunity arises they want to take it. However, with the way the game is officiated and legislated now they should think twice before taking some hits.

Is this hit going to result in a fine? If Packers safety Ha Ha Clinton Dix had thought about it before making a helmet to helmet hit on Seattle wide receiver Doug Baldwin he would have avoided the fine he'll get hit with later this week.

  1. He was just coming in to make a tackle when Palmer spun Baldwin into his path.

  2. If he doesn't get fined good for him, but the current league office seems to fine every time there is helmet to helmet contact.

    3. There was a flag on the play. When the refs huddled up and reviewed it, they picked up the flag.

  6. BAD CALL. No intent here at all to hit his helmet. Tackler in the air before the ball carrier is spun around.

    1. "intent" has never been part of the rule. The defense is required to avoid helmet to helmet contact on a defenseless player no matter what. It doesn't matter if its intentional or accidental.

  7. he is a runner at this point, not a defensless receiver. its a legal play. RBs get hit in the helmet all the time.

  9. It's not that there was no penalty... The flag was picked up and penalty NOT called.
    The officials thought this out.
Glad to see some sports writer writing a column at the house is handing out NFL fines.

    1. With how the league office hands out fines it would not be shocking if he still was. League office "corrects" officials all the time.

  10. I feel like what some others have said. You have officials in each game, they know the rules, and they made the call. After a flag, they met and decided to pick up the flag. End of story.

If your going to fine the player, then your saying the officials made a mistake. The opposing team didn't even ask for the play to be reviewed. Leave the game in the hands of the officials; we already have the ability to review plays by the officials, if needed and desired.
