Indiannapolis Colts Should Go Ahead And Sit Andrew Luck This Week

Ever since last Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans there have been rumors and speculation that Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck is injured. Luck has not admitted to it, but he has said that he is feeling the bumps and bruises that come with playing football. Early in the week his name popped up on the injury report and he has been listed day-to-day with a shoulder injury ever since.

Thursday he was shut down after doing some throwing in practice, and Friday the team signed Josh Johnson giving even more fuel to the fire that he may not play Sunday against Jacksonville.

It may sound strange, but the Colts might actually want to go ahead and sit him down this week. With him already hurting playing against anyone could risk him getting hurt further and having to miss a number of games rather than just one.

The Jaguars are not the toughest defense in the NFL, but with the way the Colts offensive line is blocking so far this season even the Jags defense may end up looking good Sunday.

An even bigger consideration should be their next game. They have the Houston Texans on deck after the Jaguars on Thursday night. Do they really want an injured Andrew Luck playing against J.J. Watt, Jadeveon Clowney, and Vince Wilfork on a short week? Absolutely not!

The Colts could probably beat the Jags without Luck, and maybe even the Texans (unless Arian Foster plays). However, with the way the Colts offensive line is working and the way the Texans defensive line is playing they need to do whatever they can to make sure Luck is as healthy as possible next Thursday.

Even if that means sitting him this week.
