Rather Than Talk About Greg Hardy A Philly Radio Station Takes Action Instead

Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Greg Hardy has been in the news a lot lately. Last Sunday it was because of his play, but over the last few days it has bee because of the pictures that surfaced online of the injuries he inflicted--but narrowly escaped prosecution over--on his ex-girlfriend. Anyone and everyone with access to a microphone has reiterated their condemnation of Hardy, chastised the Cowboys and Jerry Jones especially for supporting him, and for the NFL for not doing more.

Rather than add to all the people complaining about Hardy and the Cowboys a Philadelphia radio station decided to take action instead.

No--they didn't give Hardy a taste of his own medicine. They started a GoFundMe Page to raise money for a women's shelter in Dallas. They hoped to raise $3000, but in a day it raised almost $20,000.

Many of the donations came from Eagles fans who did not hide their feelings about Hardy and the Cowboys.

The radio show--the Josh Innes Show--deserves a pat on the back for this. It would have been easy to do just like everyone else and complain about Hardy, the Cowboys, Jerry Jones, and the NFL Players Association, but what good does that do? Jones has proven time and time again that he does not care about negative publicity. He comes from the school that any publicity is good publicity.

The only thing that could wake Jones up would be for him to be affected financially, but that is going to be pretty hard to do. His mismanagement has turned the Cowboys into the definition of a mediocre team, but the Cowboys are as popular as ever and worth $4 billion.

The only thing left to do is take the anger and try to do something positive with it--like help people who are victims of domestic violence. It would be great to bring an end to domestic violence, but until we can those who are victims of it need our help more than they need to hear about how much we hate their attackers.
